Brazilian Government Approves Citric Acid Price Undertakings in Favor of Chinese Companies
The final determination for the citric acid (tariff codes 2918.14.00 and 2918.15.00) antidumping sunset review conducted by Brazil against China was published October 17th. After over a year of investigation over the Chinese companies’ exports, the Brazilian Government approved price undertaking agreements (also called suspension agreements) in favor of four Chinese companies, which must export above a certain level in exchange for not having the antidumping duties imposed against them. For the rest of the Chinese producers, Decom decided to extend the antidumping duties currently in force.
Sidera Consult successfully assisted in the negotiations of the price undertakings in favor of two Chinese companies, i.e., COFCO Biochemical (Anhui) Co. Ltd. and COFCO Biochemical (Maanshan) Co. Ltd.. This was the first price undertaking ever granted to any Chinese company under the somewhat new Brazilian Antidumping Regulation, Decree 8058/2013. Grounded on much stricter provisions, the initially unlikely result turned out to be the best outcome in result of the efforts performed.
