Lisa Ningombam

Lisa is a native of northeast India and she is currently enrolled in TRAIL+ LLM Programme at the World Trade Institute, University of Bern in Switzerland.

Understanding the conflict between societal concerns and regulation motivated her to pursue the study of international trade laws and policies as its implications on national economies were imperative and critical for the underdeveloped regions in India. International organizations enable a coherent world through realization of optimal benefit that various treaties, laws and common standards offer, and she aspires to be a contributing member of this holistic process.

She started her career as an In-house Legal with Air Charter Services Pvt. Ltd where she officially represented with partner law firms the civil matters of the company before the district courts and high court of India. She also worked as a trainee of the commerce department (MOC, India) namely Centre for WTO Studies (CWS) and Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) where she was nurtured to develop a keen interest in international trade law and policies. Prior to arriving in Bern, she worked with Watt Kraft Pvt. Ltd a renewable resource company as legal member of the core project management team. As part of WTI, she has successfully participated in the ELSA John H Jackson Moot Court Competition (2020) on WTO law where they were classed among the top 5 teams in the regional round.

She believes getting to pursue her higher studies at WTI was a privilege and an opportunity to intern with SIDERA a great opportunity and is looking forward to all the practical insights and projects SIDERA as a platform is providing her and hopes to acquire skills which will help her enrich her potentials in the field of international trade law and policies.
