Brazil Announces Preliminary Determination on the Maintenance of Current Antidumping Duties Applied on Coarse Salt Imports from Chile
The Executive Management Committee (Gecex – Comitê Executivo de Gestão) of the Brazilian Chamber of Foreign Trade (Camex – Câmara de Comércio Exterior) published today, on March 20, 2017, Resolution 17/17 on the preliminary determination of the sunset review on antidumping duties applied on Brazilian imports of coarse salt originating from Chile, classified under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) tariff code 2501.00.19.
According to the notice, a preliminary positive conclusion for the maintenance of the current antidumping duties applied over Chilean exports of coarse salt, which is in force since 2010, was reached. The Brazilian Department of Trade Remedies (DECOM – Departamento de Defesa Comercial) of the the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC – Ministério da Indústria, Comércio Exterior e Serviços) concluded that if the duties were to be terminated, there are indications that the dumping practices would be resumed.
There is a price undertaking in force for this product in favor of producer K+S Chile S.A. since 2011.
