Brazil Opens Antidumping Investigation on Imports of Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes with Seam from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam

Through Notice Circular Secex 21 published in the National Gazette, the Brazilian Government initiated today, on April 20, 2017, an antidumping investigation on the imports of Austenitic Stainless Steel Pipes with Seam originating from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, classified under Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) items 7306.40.00 and 7306.90.20. Producers affected are the ones that exported to Brazil between October 2015 and September 2016.

Due to the large number of exporters from Thailand and Vietnam identified in the Brazilian import data, a sample was applied to select the largest exporters for questionnaire submission. Thailand was chosen as the surrogate country for the normal value, given that Vietnam is not considered a market economy.

All submissions should be made through the DECOM Digital Electronic System, in which a participation in the process should be conducted through a legal representative in Brazil.
