Executive Management Committee of the Camex Holds Its 146th Meeting
The Executive Management Committee (Gecex – Comitê Executivo de Gestão) of the Brazilian Chamber of Foreign Trade (Camex – Câmara de Comércio Exterior) held yesterday, on March 29, 2017, its 146th meeting and addressed, among others, the following topics:
- Amendment of Camex’s Regulation 27/2017, which regulates, in the framework of the Technical Group for Public Interest Assessment (GTIP – Grupo Técnico de Avaliação do Interesse Público), administrative procedures related to the evaluation of public interest;
- Pleas for temporary tariff reductions to be submitted to Mercosur to 2%, with quotas established based on historical importations, for 12 months, due to shortages, for:
- chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers, classified under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) tariff code 3904.30.00, with the quota of 5,000 tons;
- biaxial oriented polypropylene film, coated with acrylic polymers, classified under NCM tariff code 3920.20.19, with the quota of 3,400 tons, with the creation of Ex-Tariff;
- refined palm kernel oil, classified under NCM tariff code 1513.29.10, with the quota of 224,785 tons;
- casein, classified under NCM tariff code 3501.10.00, with the quota of 1,900 tons; and
- tuna loin (bonito-striped), classified under NCM tariff code 1604.14.20, with the quota of 3,000 tons;
- Proposal on rejection of the Brazilian request on temporary tariff reduction for biaxial oriented polypropylene film, classified under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) 3920.20.19.;
- Ex-Tariffs on Informatics and Telecommunications (BIT) and Capital Goods (BK):
- proposal of deferment on Ex-Tariffs on BIT and BK;
- proposal of rejection of Ex-Tariffs on BIT and BK;
- Proposal on Resolution for Ex-Tariff on auto parts:
- deferment of Ex-Tariff on auto parts;
- proposal of rejection of Ex-Tariff on auto parts;
- Proposal on the creation of the Technical Group for International Trade Regulation (Grupo Técnico de Regulação em Comércio Exterior).
The resolutions will be published in the Official Gazette of the Federative Republic of Brazil (DOU – Diário Oficial da União) in the upcoming days, as soon as associated legal and administrative procedures will have been completed.
