The Ministry of the Environment published today, an Official Notice with a new ruling on the Brazilian exports of ship hulls.
According to the Notice, Brazilian companies willing to export ship hulls will need to obtain an authorization from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) alongside the exporter declaration standing that all hazardous elements were removed from the hulls. In addition, IBAMA will only issue the authorization after an express permission regarding the import has been given by the importing country.
The measure come into force on the day of its publication.
