Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture Establishes Criteria for Imports and Exports of Horses for Reproduction and Competition

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) published, on April 5, 2017, Normative Instruction 9 establishing criteria for the evaluation of zoo-technical test results carried out in other countries for allowing to import horses or their genetic material destined at reproduction, sports, functional and zoo-technical tests.

The Instruction also stipulates template forms for zoo-technical and technical certification, and the requirements to be met by the importer in order to obtain the Zoo-Technical Exam Certificate, as well as a provision related to temporary imports and exports of horses, among other provisions.
