Tariff Reduction on Caustic Soda
Today, on July 10, 2017, the Brazilian Government published a notice reducing a tariff on the Brazilian imports of Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), classified under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (tariff code) 2815.12.00.
According to the notice, the tariff on the imports of caustic soda will be reduced 2% for a period of 12 months. As of today, the import quota is:

EX:001 – Exclusive use on the production of aluminum (or aluminum oxide) | 180.000 tons |
The import quotas will only be distributed among companies that use caustic soda to produce aluminum oxide.
